BASIC INFORMATION

1.1      B.COM (H)  Programme Objectives

The basic objective of the programme is to open a channel of admission for Accounting course for students, who have done the 10+2 and are interested in choosing Tax, Insurance, Stock Market, Chartered Accountancy etc. as a career. After acquiring the Bachelor ‘s Degree (B.COM (H)) from GGCE/RDVV, there is further educational opportunity to go for MBA at GGCE or Master ‘s Programme at any other University/Institute if desired. Also, after completing B.COM (H) Programme, a student should be able to get entry level job in the field of Junior Accounts officer or back office executive.

1.2      Duration of the Programme

Minimum: 4 Years,

Maximum: 6 Years.

The Honours degree program should have a duration of four years, providing students with a comprehensive and in-depth academic experience.

1.3      Medium of Instruction

The medium of instruction is English. The course material is also in English. However, necessary support will be provided to students coming from vernacular language medium during high school studies.

1.4      Credit System

The College follows a unique ‘Credit System’ for its programmes. Each credit is worth 30 hours of student study time, comprising all the learning activities. Thus, a three-credit course involves 90 study hours. This helps the student to understand the academic effort one has to put into successfully completing a course. Completion of the programme requires timely submission of both assignments and the Term End Examination of each course in the programme.

1.5      B.COM (H)  Programme Structure

1. Overview: The programme has been spread  over  4  years.  Consequently, there will be 2 internal class tests and 1 final (annual)  university examination every year. The students must appear for all the three examinations as per academic calendar/schedule announced by the College/ University. Student may ensure that she/he paid the requisite fee as well as fulfils other requirements  such  as prescribed minimum attendance  etc. before appearing in the term end.

2. Interdisciplinary Approach: The NEP encourages an interdisciplinary approach in Honours degree programs. It emphasizes the integration of different subjects and disciplines to foster holistic learning and a broader understanding of knowledge.

3. Research and Critical Thinking: Honours degree programs should promote research-oriented learning and develop students’ critical thinking skills. 4. Flexibility and Choice: The NEP emphasizes the importance of providing students with flexibility and choice in their academic pursuits. Honours degree programs should offer a wide range of elective courses and specialization options, allowing students to tailor their education based on their interests and career goals.

5. Skill Development: Honours degree programs should focus on the development of both subject-specific skills and transferable skills. This includes skills such as communication, problem-solving, teamwork, leadership, and digital literacy, which are essential for students to succeed in a rapidly changing world.

6. Industry Exposure and Internships: The NEP emphasizes the need for practical exposure and real-world experience in Honours degree programs. Students should have opportunities to engage with industry professionals, participate in internships, and apply their theoretical knowledge in practical settings.

7. Assessment and Evaluation: Honours degree programs should have a comprehensive and continuous assessment system that evaluates students’ understanding, skills, and overall growth. The assessment methods should go beyond traditional examinations and include project work, presentations, portfolios, and other forms of performance-based assessments.

1.7      STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES

Gyan Ganga College of excellence provides various support services for students overall development and progress in both academic and social areas.

There is a regular training and placement cell which looks after continuous interactive training for technical and non technical knowledge building of the students so that they are equipped for taking on job/work responsibilities in corporate companies across sectors.

For technical training inputs special training sessions are held beyond regular class time schedules or beyond normal work hours for the students by learned faculty subject experts.

Its purposely decided that every student will go for internship in an expanding /progressive organization to have hands on experience of actual working in professional environment.
